Celebrating Welcome Mission Hall !

“We’re the largest emergency shelter in the city, for the homeless you see outside the métro station. But the working poor are the ones you don’t see, who have to choose between eating breakfast and buying winter boots for their kids,” says executive director Sam Watts, adding that the clientele for the food bank now includes highly educated, recent immigrants who haven’t been able to find suitable work. “We want to stop the slide of people from increasing levels of poverty into homelessness.”
